DSA Sheriff’s Museum Proposal 

In accordance with the bylaws, the DSA sent a ballot proposal to the membership regarding a key decision for the association. The ballot includes a vote of the membership, upon recommendation 8-1 of the Board of Directors, to purchase the Sheriff’s Museum.

The DSA proposes to the membership to purchase the museum for $1.7 million and operate the Sheriff’s Museum to preserve department and association history. The Board of Directors has spent many months reviewing appraisals, inspection reports, business practices, and the DSA budget to ensure that the museum is an endeavor that the association can afford to take on both financially and logistically.

We feel confident in the success and the benefit of the ownership and operation of the museum by the DSA. We have taken the liberty of making informational materials available for the membership, found below. Please do your part to review them and reach out to the DSA at info@dsasd.org for any clarification as needed.

Your signed ballot envelope must be received by the DSA by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021. A pre-paid reply envelope was provided with your ballot for your convenience; of course, you may personally deliver your ballot to the DSA if you choose. Please make sure to sign your return envelope or your vote will not be counted. Should you need a replacement ballot, you may obtain one by either calling or emailing the DSA office.

The ballots will be counted by the Election Committee, comprised of members at large, on Tuesday, August 3. The results will be emailed to our association mailing list and posted to the DSA website that afternoon or evening. To ensure you are listed on the association mailing list, please call our office or email info@dsasd.org.
