Tammy Bennetts

Director

Tammy has been a DSA member since 1987 and a DSA Director since 2005. She is a San Diego native and grew up in the East County, where she went to Granite Hills High School in El Cajon and continued her education at Grossmont College in La Mesa. She currently lives in Valley Center with her husband, Jim, and her 2 “puppies”, a white German Shepherd, “Phoenix” and Weimarainer, “Kami”.

She is an avid football fan, who loves watching the Chargers. Tammy’s other hobbies include embroidering, scrap booking and scuba diving. She has seen many different creatures under the sea, in many different locations, including diving with Mako sharks in Costa Rica. She has also been diving in Honduras, San Diego and Hawaii, where she loves diving with the turtles.

Tammy has been with the Sheriff’s Department since 1980, getting her start as an Explorer. She has been on the department for 18 years, spending the first half of her career in the East County and the later half in the North County. She did her “jail time” at Las Colinas Detention Facility and worked patrol at the Santee and San Marcos stations. She is currently assigned to the traffic unit in San Marcos, where she enjoys the puzzle of re-creating what happened at a collision scene. Tammy is also one of the very few members of the department who is bi-lingual in Sign Language and has been given an award for her “ability” to get an arsonist to confess. She also has been involved in running the departments Explorer program for the past 8 years and continues to enjoy working with the young adults and youths who share an interest in law enforcement.

Tammy has been a DSA member since 1987 and has been a Station Rep for the San Marcos station for the past 4 years. Tammy would like to thank all of those members who voted for her and said she will do her best to represent ALL the deputies of the DSA fairly.

Term expires 2007
