Born in Windsor Ontario, Canada, M. Marco Garmo lived in Detroit, Michigan before moving to San Diego in 1975. Growing up in the El Cajon and Bonita area, he attended Valhalla High School and graduated from SDSU in 1990 with a BS in Criminal Justice Administration.

Marco comes from a large Chaldean family who have a strong business and legal background. He chose a career in Law Enforcement due to a life-altering experience he had at the age of 12 when he was robbed at gunpoint and his father brutally attacked at a family business. He was hired in 1992 for detentions and eventually became a law enforcement deputy, working a variety of assignments in Detentions, Patrol, COPPS, SID, and CSB.  Marco currently holds the rank of sergeant, responsible for the operations of the Lemon Grove Station.

Marco’s primary goal as a director is to be responsive to the DSA membership and help represent the association and the department in the most positive and professional manner. He hopes to use his experience and understanding of the department to make the association and department unified, working towards a common goal.  He is honored to serve the membership and grateful for their support.
