Three of the Board of Directors are elected by the Class 1 members each January, with each serving a three year term. The President, Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer are elected by the Board of Directors from the seated Board and each office is a two year term.

David Gilmore

Secretary/treasurer


David Gilmore is a graduate of the University of San Diego. He played 4 years of football and received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting. After graduation, David spent 8 years in the private sector.

David participated in the development of a company from a 35 person organization to a 600 plus employee organization in the span of 3 years. He switched industries and was recruited by a Los Angeles firm to sell telecommunications equipment in the San Diego region.

David has been married for 16 years to his wife Juanita. They have two daughters. David is actively involved in the University of San Diego Torero Football Alumni Association. His hobbies are reading, fitness and his family. After having a child and desiring more family time at home, he sought out a change in career. A friend recommended the Sheriff’s Department for opportunities in San Diego.

David joined the Sheriff’s Department in 1997. He was assigned to CDF and was a part of the team that moved the inmates from the old jail to the new jail. After spending 49 months “in custody”, he went to the Encinitas Station. He has been assigned to Patrol, Traffic and C.O.P.P.S..

David’s long term goals are to live healthy and retire at an early enough age to make the county have to refinance their pension obligation bonds so that they can keep sending him checks.
