DSA Changes Broker of Record

The directors of the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association recently voted to change insurance brokers from Pacific Financial Design to Bradawn, Inc. The board made this decision after trying to work with Pacific Financial Design concerning issues relating to the service being provided over the past two years. PFD was put on notice on more than one occasion about the concerns of the DSA. Unfortunately, the problems persisted.

In order to provide the service the members deserve and pay for, the DSA sought proposals from other brokers. The Board made the decision to go with Bradawn based on what it believes will be superior service and products that will be made available to the DSA members. Bradawn presently represents amongst others, the San Diego Police Officers Association, the Los Angeles Police Relief Association, and the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association.

Many of you received a letter from PFD and a copy of the personal letter sent to Matt Etchepare from Bob DeSteunder who now works for PFD. These letters misrepresent the fact that PFD was put on notice on more than one occasion about problems with its service. These letters also misrepresent the effort made by the DSA to work with PFD to remedy the problems and the fact that the entire board made the decision to replace PFD as the broker of record after reviewing all the facts.

Rest assured that payroll deductions will continue to be performed for all members who have current policies with PFD through the DSA.

The board believes that the membership of the DSA will be better served by Bradawn. Representatives of Bradawn attended the last DSA meeting and will be at meetings in the future.
