May is Memorial Month

image On May 7, San Diego County will honor 80 fallen peace officers from throughout the county in a ceremony at the new memorial at the County Administrative Center. This year’s ceremony also serves as a dedication for the new regional memorial. For more information, please visit the local memorial website.

The California Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony on May 6 honors ten officers who lost their life in the line of duty in 2008. For more information on the state memorial, visit the California Memorial website.

May 15 is Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, and the week in which May 15 falls is National Police Week. While national ceremonies take place in Washington, D.C., during Police Week, local and statewide memorials take place across the country throughout the month of May. More information on National Police week can be found at the NLEOMF website. Please remember to fly your flag at half staff on May 15.
