Hello DSA Members,

My name is Tammy Bennetts, and I am running for the Board of Directors. I have spent the last three years representing all of you and am again asking for your support.

I have been on the department for 20 years. I worked Las Colinas for my first 5 years then went on to work patrol. I worked patrol in Santee for 6 years before moving on to San Marcos. I currently work traffic in San Marcos.

Being on the board these past three years has been a learning experience and a job I enjoy. One of the jobs I hold with the DSA is chair of the Scholarship Committee. I find the awarding of scholarships a part of my job as a director that is extremely satisfying. One of my goals is to see the scholarships we award raised from $1250 to $1500. School costs are continually going up, and I would like to see the DSA raise the contribution to our members and their children through our scholarship program.

A second goal of mine is to work with the other board members in our next negotiations that are coming up all too quickly. I would like to see our base pay raised, as well as, to fight to get the county to pick up more of our medical costs. I know the medical costs that come out of our own pocket can get expensive. So, getting the county to pay a little bit more to ease what we all pay is an important goal of mine.

I am asking for your vote, so I can continue to represent all of you. The experience I have gained these last three years will enable me to continue to fight for your rights, pay and work conditions.

Three years ago when I ran for the board of the DSA, I made a promise should I get elected. I will be open and available for you, the members. My number is published in the Silver Star and should anyone have an issue or problem, please call me, and I will make every effort as your representative to solve the issue or get you the necessary help.

Thank you and remember,
Please vote TAMMY BENNETTS for Board of Directors of your DSA.
