image My Fellow Members,
My name is Tim Petrachek, and I am asking for your vote for the Board of Directors of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association. I have been a Deputy Sheriff in San Diego County for 25 years this past October. I started with the Sheriff’s Office in 1982 as a Reserve Deputy working at the Santee Station for three and a half years, then I was hired full time as a Deputy Sheriff for the last twenty-one and a half years. I have worked various assignments in that time and have come to know and appreciate the San Diego County Sheriff’s Dept. I am currently assigned to the Encinitas Patrol Station as a motor unit, traffic investigator Deputy Sheriff.

I was encouraged to run for the board by one of the current directors who knows my background in the DSA. I gave the decision a great deal of thought and realized that I have the experience and ability to hit the ground running. I know what it means to volunteer. I am on the board of directors of a flying club that I belong to, Pacific Coast Flyers in Carlsbad, and I am very active in charitable organizations at my church, St. Marks in San Marcos.

I have been a director in the past, serving the membership for two terms. I am fully aware of the duties and responsibilities required to fulfill the position of director, and if you trust me with your vote, I will commit to you to work hard on behalf of all members of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association.

I previously served as the chairman of the Political Action Committee, and I was the co-chair of the Negotiations Committee. I was a director during the Marshal merger and welcomed all the new members from the former Marshal’s Office. I was on the Meet and Confer Committee, as well as, numerous other committees.

As a director, I worked to build a good name for the DSA through relationships with the Sheriff’s management staff, and with the elected officials of the County and all of our contract cities. With my previous board experience, I will be able to make a seamless transition to the board of directors and join them in continuing to move forward in a positive direction and work for improving the wages, benefits, and working conditions for all of the members.

We, as an association, face some tough challenges in the near future. Contract negotiations, retiree health benefits, and attacks to our retirement benefits to name a few. I am up to the challenge, and I have the experience to be part of the Board of Directors team to see that your interests are protected. I give you my word that I will work toward the best interests of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association, and I will work diligently to that end. I would appreciate your vote. I won’t let you down.

Sincerely,
Tim Petrachek
